Tom Gordon and Jeff Montgomery limited Oakland to six hits in a 3-1 Royals win at Oakland. The victory ends Kansas City’s four game slide and keeps them in the AL wild card race, two games behind Texas and tied with Seattle for position as New York leads the division. Gordon kept A’s hitters off balance with a mix of fastball and breaking ball, ending a streak of Royals opponents scoring four or more runs.
