Man Faces Sex Charge In Ottawa County Case
Daniel Ray Sowder 26 of 180 Canter bury Court was charged in District Court with indecent liberties with a child in a Monday incident involving a 15 year old Ottawa girl. He was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing and remained jailed on a 10000 dollar bond. Authorities say the girl and her 16 year old sister rode with Sowder and another Ottawa man after drinking beer. The truck broke down five miles west of town and the older sister and man went for help while the 15 year old was allegedly forced to have intercourse, a claim Sowder denies. Four people were later given a ride home after help arrived and the alleged incident was reported the next day. The rape charge was amended to the lesser felony.
