Sebelius expands state anti-discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity
Governor Kathleen Sebelius broadens state policy to ban workplace discrimination and harassment for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and those who have altered sex. The order covers about 25,000 of 41,000 state employees and parallels proposed housing and private employment protections. Critics attack the move as radical, while supporters call it a necessary step toward equal rights.
