Ottawan Hurt In Car Crash At Ft Carson
Pfe James D. Shaw 23, formerly of Ottawa, suffered lacerations and possible internal injuries after a one vehicle crash ten miles west of Colorado Springs on Colorado Highway 4. The Volkswagen left the roadway, rolled 2.5 times, and rested on its left side. Shaw, in the 69th brigade called up in May, is hospitalized at Ft Carson. His passenger David Shotwell of Ottawa had minor injuries.

Jaycees Start Torch Drive for Olympic Team Fund
Ottawa Jaycees launched the Olympic Torch 68 fundraising drive to support the U S Olympic team. Canisters will be placed in local businesses and donations accepted by mail or phone CH 2 5100 or CH 2 5303. The program operates in about 6300 communities nationwide to fund training and facilities for American athletes in Mexico City.

Baldwin Power Outage After Fire at Plant
Electrical power failed for 30 minutes when a generator at Baldwin plant burst into flames. Beams 100 feet away blistered from the heat. Attendant Bernard Stiles escaped injury while trying to shut down the burning unit. Firefighters from the adjacent station fought the blaze for 90 minutes. Generators run on natural gas and can switch to fuel oil in emergencies, said Bill Randall, plant superintendent.
