Morning catfish haul breaks river records on Marais des Cygnes
George Rush of 530 North Oak fished the Marais des Cygnes River below Miller Dam at 6:30 AM and landed two flathead catfish weighing 47 and 32 pounds each. He used carp bait, described both fish as fat and clean, and noted the larger nearly upended his eight foot boat. Rush, a lifelong angler, said his best previous catch was a 54 pounder in the Osage River.
