The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department has not determined why a vehicle full of teens lost control on gravel on Marshall Road near Eisenhower Road. Tanis Gregg, father of Tina Vega who died, argues new gravel and missing speed limit signs contributed to the crash. Officials say the road was in fairly good condition and state law sets a 55 mph limit unless posted, while Gregg urges clear speed-limit notices and safer driving practices.

Congress Moves to Grant Itself a Pay Raise Next Year

Congress leaders push through an $89.3 billion Transportation and Treasury budget bill that would raise federal civilian and military pay by 4.1 percent, while members of Congress would gain 2.2 percent to about $158,000.
