Omaha woman leads DIY drive to nominate Goldwater
Mrs. Wood, a 35 year old Omaha resident and sixth generation American, originated Gold for Goldwater Nebraska. Her home is 5410 Seward Street. The campaign raises 2000 to 2500 dollars weekly from about 1408 donors in 32 states. Checks totaling around 12000 dollars are held in escrow at United States National Bank of Omaha and burned if Goldwater is not nominated. She aims to build broad support at the 1964 Republican National Convention and become more than a donor, as workers. She credits attending the 1952 convention with shaping her political view.
