Legislature Delays Probe Into Rayl Demotion Moot Question
A legislative leadership committee took no action on Sen August Bogina s bid for a special investigative panel to review Kansas State Penitentiary warden Gary Rayl s demotion after Rayl agreed to transfer, a salary cut, and non contest of the action. House Speaker Mike Hayden and Senate leaders left the matter for potential future consideration if more information emerges. The panel also rejected a Democrats push to buy word processors for their offices while approving a plan to give businesses access to the Legislature s bill tracking computer once enough subscribers sign up.
