Dimoush Faces Federal Sentence For Child Porn Possession

Former Ottawa movie theater owner Richard Dimoush, 41, was to be sentenced today on federal charges of possessing child pornography, facing up to 10 years in prison. Franklin County Attorney Heather Jones urged the maximum penalty.

Former band director recalls Richmond City Band era

Walt Butler, Ottawa’s Music Man, directed the Richmond City Band from 1940 to 1946, growing membership from 12 to 50. Now 90, he donated his hat, baton, gloves and uniform to the Richmond Community Museum and reflected with former members Betty Sutton and Alfred Nilges on Friday concerts, downtown parades and town life. The museum project includes band items as construction continues.

Holiday Weekend Closures Across City and County

City Hall and the Franklin County Courthouse close for Labor Day along with the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce. Ottawa Library and The Ottawa Herald suspend operations Monday, with Walgreens open 9 am to 5 pm and Allegre Pharmacy 10 am to 2 pm. Reopening planned for 8 am Tuesday.
