Secret Poll List Hopes Aid McGovern Campaign
An anonymous McGovern aide says a private GOP poll covering 33 states showed Nixon trailing McGovern by 12 points, a figure a Republican defector from Nixon’s November Group allegedly leaked. Nixon campaign spokesman Albert Abrahams denied any such poll existed and noted state margins in top 10 states favored Nixon. The source is described as a disenchanted Republican worker who shared data after the Watergate era break‑in and related espionage claims.
