KC Cops Struggle Deepens After Accidental Shooting
The death of 24 year old stockbroker Terry Barnes by an officer searching for a burglar adds to Kansas City's pattern of alleged brutality and racism. Barnes was shot in his apartment as officers entered at 3 30 am after a prowler report. The officer, a two year veteran, fired from about 50 feet after Barnes, in a T shirt and boxer shorts, stood in his bedroom. Police say Barnes lunged and the shooting is under investigation by police and a grand jury. Barnes’ fiancee Alison Brady recalls he would have been a good husband and father.
