Mrs. Sellers recalls her son Jason and his brothers running a paper route. They faced hardships yet learned discipline and saved earnings in accounts. Jason even funded part of a basketball camp, bought bikes, and kept customers happy despite occasional delays.
In Lawrence Kansas an 18 year old woman Lisa Bigenwalt pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting voluntary manslaughter in the death of Don Hatchell age 50. Hatchell was shot in his home and his body was found June 11 under a Douglas County bridge. A second youth William McTaggert faced juvenile delinquency charges and is confined in a Topeka youth center.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment filed a Certificate of Need on October 25, 1982 for Ottawa Care Center Inc to add a 113 bed intermediate care facility at Ottawa in Franklin County Kansas. The application is available for public examination at Health Systems Agency of Northeast Kansas Topeka. Public notice published October 22 1982 and last published November 5 1982.
