Soroptimist Ottawa Attends District Meeting Event
Two Ottawa members joined the 39th annual Soroptimist District Meeting for the South Central Region at the Marriott Country Club Plaza October 11 to 13. Delegate Colleen Burrichter presented The Early History of Soreptimism on October 12. President Virginia Lancaster led the October 13 breakfast session and the Ottawa club received recognition for its participation in the Women’s Opportunity Awards.

Local optometrists attend conference in Wichita
Ottawa based Greg Dulos and James Faton joined Kansas Optometric Association Fall Eyecare Conference in Wichita 2002. Attendees earned 14 hours of continuing education toward the 24 required for re licensure. Sessions covered macular degeneration treatment, ocular drugs, corneal refractive therapy, contact lens care, patient privacy, and current clinical information. Paula Mader completed a comprehensive senior issues course and earned the CSA designation after passing the exam. Dan Mildfelt of Community National Bank received the Governor's Award for Excellence as Volunteer of the Year at the Main Street Conference in El Dorado. Taylor Brothers Construction owner Ralph Taylor received CertainTeed Corporation's Award of Excellence for a siding project using Monogram siding in prairie sand color.
