Enzyme may predict heart disease risk says study
The study identifies phospholipase A2 as a potential independent predictor of heart disease risk. Researchers analyzed 580 men with serious heart trouble and 1,160 controls, noting high enzyme levels linked to about double the risk. The Glasgow Royal Infirmary study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, also notes inflammation's role in cardiovascular outcomes.
