Geist remembered for love and courage at memorial service
The Ottawa community gathered to honor Russell Geist, a Franklin County deputy, as family and colleagues recounted his kindness and drive. Mentions of his care for children, humorous side, and duty to his job framed a tribute that contrasted loss with the hope of moving forward. Sheriff’s Office colleagues recalled two deputy losses in 15 months, noting Geist’s character led to his appointment.
