Man accused of threatening Clinton at Eugene airport

Jeffery Pickering, 49, ordered held without bond after allegedly threatening President Clinton with explosives found in a ditch near the Eugene airport before his June visit. Prosecutors plan to present to a grand jury next week.

Smokers' Class-Action Trial Opens in Florida Case

A jury of six and ten alternates, including one current smoker and three former smokers, was seated in what is described as the nation’s first class-action suit by smokers against the tobacco industry. The $200 billion case seeks damages for as many as 500,000 sick Florida smokers and is set to begin Monday with opening statements.
