Deputy Geist remembered for humor and kindness in Franklin County
Russel Geist, a Franklin County Sheriff's Office deputy, died suddenly at 28. Friends recall his contagious smile and quirks like his “Nope” and “Yup” responses, nickname Russelisms, and his easy rapport with everyone. Geist, an Ottawa High School graduate, was the son of retired Ottawa Police detective Rick Geist.
