Ottawa sergeant wins local Top STAR competition
Sergeant Mark d Augereau of Ottawa police and commander of the Special Tactics And Rescue team won the 1992 local Top STAR competition on Tuesday, scoring 541 points. He beat nine teammates by about 100 points as tests and an obstacle course near half a mile tested stressful job scenarios. Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and school officials also moved forward with Parents in Education, offering up to six hours paid leave for parents to visit classrooms, with enrollment by November 1. The chamber also endorsed a shopping promotion Shop Ottawa and announced the downtown Christmas lighting ceremony for November 26 with extended store hours.
