The Ottawa Community Arts Council sponsors a logo contest for A.C.T. Ottawa! Entries must be received by Friday October 21. Logos will be voted on by theatergoers during performances October 27 to 30 at the old courthouse, with a post show reception featuring punch and cookies.

Fire experts warn a fire can engulf a home within five minutes, leaving only about two minutes to escape once it starts, and emphasize detector placement, testing, and school outreach programs.
Ottawa officials and business leaders say insufficient sewer, water, power lines and streets deter developers. The 17th Street expansion plan failed, while Pin Oak builds on 15th Street. Population decline, high costs, and reduced federal funds further limit housing, with grants sought to meet rising demand from a Wal Mart distribution center and other projects.
