The USDA analyzed 12,000 foreign ownership disclosures for 1979-80, reporting foreign acres at start of year 7.8 million, rising 1.2 million to end year. That totals 6 percent of 1.25 billion acres. Most buyers come from Canada, Britain, West Germany, and the Netherlands. Midwest ownership remains under 0.1 percent. No alarm yet.
