Ottawa store owner Steve Mudrick, 60, dies after cancer

Longtime Litwin's department store operator in Ottawa dies after a prolonged cancer battle. The community leader and first recipient of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce Community Image Award in 1995, Mudrick was known for warm service, local loyalty, and guiding downtown retail through major changes. He took over Litwin's in 1978 and helped keep it as a locally owned anchor amid closures and new competition. He will be missed by customers and city residents alike.
