Special to The Herald New Hope Baptist Church marks 140 years of Christian ministry Sunday October 13 at its K-68 and K-33 location ten miles east of Ottawa. The celebration recalls origins in Stanton Township Miami County with nine members meeting in homes and at Green School before reorganizing as Stanton Baptist and then New Hope in 1878. The day will feature a 10:30 a.m. worship service a potluck dinner a history program honoring pastors and an ice cream social with activities for all.
The Faith Lutheran Church at 15th and Eisenhower will hold a 3 p.m. dedication and thanksgiving service with Howard Patten as guest speaker. The choir, brass and tympanies will perform. Open to the public. the congregation moved in four months ago and finishing touches remain.
