Talented Toe Proves Valuable for Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech halfback Tommy Wells leads the SEC in scoring while rarely carrying the ball. The 6 foot 1, 194 pound senior has five field goals in three games without a miss, including two 40 yarders in windy conditions. Wells also adds five PATs to reach 20 points, and he plays defense as a seldom-used sideback when Tech has the ball. Wells started kicking in college after a tip from coach Whitey Urban, going 4 of 10 as a sophomore and 3 of 5 last year.
