District weighs school closings and timelines in Ottawa
Ottawa board reviews a proposal to reorganize the district with a new elementary school and possibly Garfield, citing cost, efficiency, and state funding gains. Nativity Walk Expands As Ottawa Hosts Three Day Event
The Bethlehem Walk nativity in Ottawa returns with free coffee hot chocolate and cookies after the tour plus local crafts for sale. Renovated refreshment area will be warmer and weather updates are available by calling (785) 242-3211 or visiting the church site. The event started in 2003 and drew nearly 1500 spectators in two days. This year extends to three days and organizers urge attendance Friday or Saturday due to many church groups visiting Sunday night. Mast aims to broaden outreach and possibly add a second nativity scene in coming years.
