Sheriff proposes expanding jail camera coverage
Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Curry presented a plan to add twelve cameras and a second digital video recorder at the Franklin County jail 305 S Main St Ottawa. The $21 900 project would cover cell areas and blind spots in the day room boosting security for adult inmates and aiding investigations. The sheriff proposes funding $11 900 from inmate accounts and $10 000 from the inmate housing fund remaining budgeted 60 000 from 2012 for out of county housing not used remains intact. The board will vote at the regular meeting Wednesday 8 30 a m in the Franklin County Office Annex Ottawa.

Officer: No abuse to horse in Kansas county case
The sheriff said no neglect or abuse under Kansas state statute was found and no charges will be filed. The county attorney is the only entity who can file charges, based on the gathered investigation.
