McCracken school sale brings buyers from Phoenix via eBay
Dave Libberton and Suzanne Azzarella of Engine Powered Products won the McCracken school deed for 49500 on eBay. They plan to move their 15000 square foot warehouse and stock to Kansas in coming months, drawn by the building’s good condition and local goodwill. The sale funds capital outlay and ends district maintenance costs, while nationwide publicity boosts the district.

Hispanics in Kansas Face Lower-Paying Jobs Amid Education Gaps
An AP report notes many Hispanics in Kansas work low wage jobs due to limited English skills and education. Lydia Gonzales of Garden City cites long hours and scarce opportunities, while economist David Burress highlights barriers but sees rising college completion among Hispanics. 2000 data show whites earn higher median incomes than Hispanics. Hispanics comprise 7 percent of Kansans as whites dominate 83 percent. A Gini measure illustrates growing income inequality.
