Kansas preschool gains fade with funding cuts in 2004 survey
The 2004 State Preschool Yearbook shows Kansas rising to 14th in quality and 34th in resources for at risk four year olds after funding reductions. Kansas serves no three year olds and met four quality benchmarks. Nationwide, availability varies dramatically as many states cut or lack state funded programs.

Ruth Anne French of Partridge and Haven High School is one of 32 Americans chosen as Rhodes Scholars for 2005. The KU student was among four Midwest winners from 12 finalists in St Paul Minnesota. She will study environmental policy regulation at Oxford in October 2005. Rhodes Scholars total about 95 from 19 countries each year.
