Tightwad Bank to Close After 22 Years in Missouri

The Tightwad Bank, which drew 2.2 million dollars in deposits from across the country, will close on January 31. Operated by UMB Bank Warsaw under UMB Financial Corp, it began 22 years ago in Tightwad, Missouri, a small community between Clinton and Warsaw. Home for the Holidays tour in Atchison features five historic houses

The Fifth Annual Home for the Holidays tour runs 11 am to 6 pm with five houses built between 1879 and 1911 in Atchison. Free trolley transport links downtown to the homes. Tickets cost 10 dollars before December 1 and 15 dollars during the event.

Christmas Open House and holiday closures listed

Turner Flowers hosts a Christmas Open House at 231 S Main on November 24 and 25 with refreshments and drawings. Franklin County Health Department closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday and remains closed Thursday and Friday for holidays. KASWA Imports opens November 24 at 10 a.m. offering marble and brass gifts, purses, women’s clothing, wall hangings, and small items. Performance Automotive closes November 30 due to Pete Geiler’s illness. The Ottawa Herald offices close for Thanksgiving on Thursday and do not print. regular hours resume Friday.

Adoption questions draw Ottawa area families to library event
