School bond plan shift sparks renewed concern in Ottawa
Ottawa residents Rick and Shanda Olmsted question how the 2004 bond proposals will unfold. The public library’s archive shows initial plans for a new northeast elementary, Garfield work, and land at 19th and Eisenhower, with Hawthorne and Eisenhower becoming single unit schools and Eugene Field possibly so. Now, a year later, the board hints at closing Hawthorne and Eisenhower by 2006 to staff a new Garfield and expand Eugene Field, while funding and busing costs remain unclear.

Gravity and evolution as facts and theories
The text argues gravity is a fact of matter attraction while how it works is a theory. Evolution is treated as a fact of change in living things, with the mechanisms of how it works also as theory. It notes ongoing learning since Darwin and that finding flaws in Darwin’s theories does not disprove evolution. It links belief in God with acceptance of evolution as compatible.
