Yale ends binding early decision and adopts nonbinding action
Yale University will replace binding early decision with a nonbinding early action plan to ease applicant pressure. The change, effective next year, may reduce top applicants by up to 20 percent and affects aid-seeking students who cannot compare offers from competing schools. Harvard remains an exception with nonbinding early applications. President Richard Levin says the benefits outweigh the loss of applicants.
