Israelis and Palestinians clash as truce holds tenuously
In Jerusalem both sides accused each other of truce violations as West Bank and Gaza violence continued. Israel reopened Gaza Airport for limited flights including a German plane taking 23 seriously wounded Palestinians to Germany. An Israeli newspaper reported a reenactment of a 12 year old Palestinian boy Mohammed Aldura's death amid an army gun battle, with a private probe sought. Arafat's cabinet urged Arab aid and jobs while Barak warned the violence would not abate without real reductions. Rabbo signaled Palestinians would not seek statehood at the November Central Council meeting. The six day truce has lowered overall unrest but deadly clashes persist, with two teen fatalities and other injuries reported.
