On Wednesday Wall Street fell as traders held back before crucial U S Labor Department data. The Dow dropped 45.11 to 9,793.72 while the Nasdaq slid 10.70 to 1,947.26 and the S P 500 declined 6.22 to 1,047.03. Industry data showed factory orders improving in September and ISM service activity extending gains, with hiring resuming. Local grain quotes and county prices were posted for several crops.

Grace Steele obituary a 91 year old Ottawan dies
Grace M. Steele, 91, of Ottawa died Sunday November 2 2003 at home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ottawa Church of the Nazarene with Rev Steven Iversen officiating. She was born November 20 1911 in Andrew Iowa to William Arthur Meineke and Flora Bell Gotshall. She lived in Garden City Franklin County and Ottawa over the years and was a homemaker. She married Robert Wayne Steele Sr in Lawrence June 15 1933. Survivors include two sons Robert Steele Jr and Richard Steele. daughter Delores Smith. sister Florence Richards. ten grandchildren eleven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son and several siblings. Visitation 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial at Dean Cemetery Franklin County. Memorials to Ottawa Church of the Nazarene.

Denmark said it will allow a group that worships Norse gods such as Thor and Odin to conduct legally recognized marriages. Minister Tove Ferge, an Evangelical Lutheran priest, said it would be wrong if the indigenous religion was not recognized.
