Wires of encouragement flow after Kentuckys primary win

Reports say wires of encouragement came from opponents including Gov A B Chandler after his upset victory over Joe Bates in the Democratic primary Tuesday. Senator Bates said he will press for highway toll road reimbursement in Congress as part of the interstate system bill, while Senate leaders disagree on reimbursement language. The House included a provision to reimburse toll or free highways built or contracted by June 30 1957, but the Senate bill lacked similar language. Conference will decide the issue. Senator Gore notes many states have no toll roads.
