Tokyo land costs far exceed U S cities in 1994 survey
Tokyo residents faced land prices 27 times higher than San Francisco and 32 times as much as Los Angeles. A square foot of housing land in Tokyo averaged 51,800 yen or about $510 in 1994, vs $45 in Honolulu and $19 $16 and $9 in San Francisco Los Angeles and New York.
