Kansas marks Beef Month with promotion by Gov Will liam H Avery and the National Livestock Association and National Meat Board. Includes recipes from Beef Cookery such as Kansas Swiss Steak and Mushroom Meat Puffs, highlighting beef as plentiful economical and versatile with practical home cooking guidance.
Emery Green Club meets with Mrs Clyde Shade hosting and Mrs Beverly Daugharthy presiding. Members plan a July 28 Forest Park picnic and vote to give bridal gifts to two local women planning weddings. Contest winners are Mrs Lee Peterson Mrs Lonnie Reeder and Mrs Frank Davis. Birthdays and anniversaries noted. Recipe section includes beef stew and midwestern pot roast with stuffing and corn meal stuffing.
Mrs. Ora Johnson hosted the Fairmount Birthday Club with an all day gathering Friday. Members recited the Lord's Prayer before a noon basket dinner. Eighteen members attended along with visitors Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Wren, Bridget and Kirk Ottawa, Russell Wray, and several children. A quilt given to Peggy Ferguson, a high school graduate, was displayed. prizes went to Mrs. Larry Ferguson, Mrs. Dolly Davis, and Mrs. Grace Finch.
A reader notice lists upcoming meetings and lunches across various clubs and churches. Sacred Heart Altar Society meets at St. Joseph's Center at 2 p.m. Other groups include Golden Age at Anchor Building, Ladies Golf Luncheon at the Country Club, and multiple W S C S circles.
Past Noble Grands Club of Hazel Rebekah Lodge met at Mrs. Harry Brink’s home with Mrs. Allie Murray as co host and Mrs. Lilliam Feuerborn presiding. Members shared favorite household gadgets. traveling bingo was played and refreshments served. Next meeting set with Mrs. Louis Turner.
Socialettes Dr and Mrs W C Harding visited Topeka Friday for a birthday dinner for their daughter Mrs Ray Waddell and to attend Topeka West High School graduation exercises where granddaughter Carol Duffy Waddell graduated. They met Dr and Mrs W W Good of Waco Texas and Mr and Mrs Clarence Good, with Dr Good serving as administrator of the VA Hospital in Waco.
