Tiahrt pressures GOP lawmaker to yank Moore bill backing

Washington Kansas Rep. Todd Tiahrt pressed Rep. Tom Davis to drop support for Rep. Dennis Moore’s campaign finance reform measure. Davis, chairman of GOP efforts to defeat Moore, withdrew his backing after reviewing the bill’s scope. The measure would require disclosure by 527 groups and close donor loopholes. Moore defends the policy as nonpartisan and essential. Davis, via spokesman, said the bill is unconstitutional and unfair for targeting specific groups.
