Downtown residents merchants and officials gathered as City Commissioners discussed Main Street repaving. GOP Accused of Reneging On Remap

In Topeka Kansas the Republican majority faced accusations of breaking faith with Democrats over congressional reapportionment. Senate Minority Leader Jack Steineger testified in a federal court panel that the Hess Whitaker plan abandoned shared criteria and sparked a partisan clash, impacting the district map for Kansas five congressional seats. Democratic critics argued the plan favored state Republicans and shifted Douglas County and Wyandotte County into districts to aid proponent Jim Slattery against incumbent Jim Jeffries. The dispute centers on district boundaries and the legality of remapping amid court oversight.
