ABC Tops Three-Way Ratings With Marco Polo Miniseries

The AP reports eighty five percent of federally insured savings and loan associations lost money in 1981, with Illinois Ohio Texas California Florida Indiana Louisiana New Jersey North Carolina and Pennsylvania showing large losses. In DC and six states all insured S and Ls lost money in H2 1981, while only a few were still in the black. No depositor losses occurred due to federal insurance, with limits at one hundred thousand dollars per account and a seven billion asset pool.

Farmland Values Dip in a Seven-State District
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City reports farmland values fell in the first quarter of 1982 across seven states Kansas Missouri Nebraska Oklahoma Colorado Wyoming and New Mexico. Nonirrigated crop land at 760 per acre down 4.2 percent from the prior quarter and 7.5 percent from a year earlier while irrigated land at 1274 per acre slid 3.7 and 7.1 percent. Ranch land averaged 376 per acre, down 6.4 and 6.0 percent. Loan demand declined as loan funds rose and loan-to-deposit ratios eased.
