Abstract Painting Is Truly Abstract Art In Abilene Firm

In Abilene the owners of a local architectural firm display an “abstract painting” that is not a painting at all but a board marked with splash marks, slashes, and dabs from a longtime sign painter. The 30 by 28 inch fragment has drawn offers up to 150 dollars, yet the piece remains unsold as the owners enjoy it and search for a suitable price. The board originally measured around 4 by 24 feet, with the rest discarded after framing.

Carlson Pearson Vote Yes on Price Support and Controls

The Kansas senators Frank Carlson and James B. Pearson, both Republicans, voted in favor of continuing the current government price support and acreage control program for wheat and for production and marketing controls on corn and other livestock feed grains. They lost both votes. Missouri’s Democrats Stuart Symington and Edward V. Long backed Kennedy administration price support changes. Symington also voted for feed grain controls, while Long abstained on the amendment but used a pair to cancel a opposing vote.
