Housing Bill Heads For House
Senate passed a broad housing bill authorizing 135000 new public housing units per year, sending it toward a House that has opposed such author ity the past three years. The measure includes a federal elderly housing program and expands FHA and insurance authority by three billion dollars while extending the GI home loan program for one year. The House Banking Committee pends action as President Eisenhower proposed a two year plan for 35000 units annually.
