About 70 Texas high school youths join 1,700 Central Texas Conference volunteers for a Kansas week of home repairs June 9 to 15. They will stay at First United Methodist Church in Ottawa and work 8 am to 4 pm on painting, repairs, roof overhauls, and wheelchair access, before a Wichita rally.
ECKAN will offer free hot lunches to children ages two to 18 in the Ottawa school district this summer. From Tuesday, meals are served weekdays 12:00 to 12:30 at Don Woodward Community Center with postmeal activities by the Ottawa Recreation Commission. Authorities note SFSP funds the program, with Kansas estimates showing 15,000 Kansas children fed daily through SFSP and ECKAN planning prizes to boost turnout.
