The Franklin County Board of Social Welfare seeks a revised contract with the county Medical Society for welfare medical care payments. The agreement, signed by board members and doctors, awaits approval by the State Board of Social Welfare before taking effect.
Edgerton community gathered for the dedication of a new school building with student performances and speeches. The Kan State Medical Society voted to terminate the old contract, revealing a seven month shortfall of about $6,357.02 as doctors face higher drug and hospitalization costs under a new plan proposed to average about $4 per person.
Baldwin editor Lane F C Leinaker will be the speaker at 11 o clock service next Sunday at the Lane Methodist Church. He is a lay leader in the Ottawa district of the church.
Admitted patients include Don Bloomer in Rantoul Monday and Mrs J Heidner in Pomona Monday along with Glenn Jones in Pomona Tuesday and Mrs Nora Bars in Richmond Tuesday. Discharged include Mrs Waldron Farley and infant daughter Baldwin on Monday and Mrs Bill Norman and infant daughter in Muncie Tuesday. Transferred David Seyler Wellsville to St Luke s Kansas City Monday and Mrs BR Bacon Paola admitted Tuesday then moved to University of Kansas Medical Center Kansas City Kas.
Mrs. Mary F Costello found a 15 foot maple missing from her front lawn after a shopping trip. Neighbors reported four men in work clothes with a truck taking the tree, claiming it was shell tree. Police note a genuine tree snatching case and a polite caller asking questions about the tree.
A 72 year old man, W. J. Worrel, was found dead in a wooded area three miles southeast of Manhattan after his horse returned to the farm without him. Sheriff B. E. Deckert said it appeared Worrel struck a low hanging tree limb. He is survived by his widow and a daughter.
Secretary of State Dulles, with presidential authorization, declared no neutrality policy applies to Germany whether West or possibly a future unified form. He told reporters the US views Germany as non neutral given its size, industry, and strategic position, clarifying remarks after Eisenhower’s conference.
Kansas City report states J. G. Kreamer of Prairie Village was reelected president of the Kansas Telephone Association yesterday. Kreamer serves as vice president in charge of operations for the United Telephone Co. of Kansas.
Leon M. Levy of Banita Originals testified before the Senate Investigations subcommittee that he spent 6699 dollars in cash payoffs and gifts to government employees tied to three armed forces contracts in 1952 and 1953. Levy, a Lebanon-born partner, said the notes supporting his claim were kept in Arabic.
Caney, Kansas residents vote on two general obligation bond measures totaling 320,000 to fund a hospital site purchase, construction, furnishings, and equipment. The measures include 250,000 for building costs and 70,000 for furnishings, with savings from U. S. Bonds referenced.

Denver Gov Ed C Johnson said he has statewide support for barring state agriculture experts from the May 31 to June 2 drought governors meeting.
