Willie Nelson Performs Free Show at Missouri State Penitentiary
Country star Willie Nelson gave a two hour free concert for 1,500 inmates and 200 guards at Missouri State Penitentiary. He opened with Whiskey River and played gospel blues and bluegrass to a large cheering crowd, later signing autographs and receiving a handmade leather gift from inmates. Wardens and organizers hailed the event as a success and an outlaw closer with inmates who relate to his image.
