Willow street and Fifteenth street road project hearings
Proponents and opponents clash over paying for Willow street and adjacent Fifteenth street paving. County would fund about 30 000 of 50 000 cost, with Lincoln township 12 500 and the benefit district 7 500, under state cost shares. Opponents urge cheaper surfacing to cover more miles, citing K68 and Logan street examples. Hearing at Garnett district court builds toward county commissioners decision after briefs.

Willow Fifteenth street paving debate over cost and method
Gardner and Attorney Anderson discuss options for surfacing Willow and Fifteenth streets. A six inch black top finish on the gravel Fifteenth would cost about 15000 per mile, while a K 68 style surface on gravel would be about 2000 per mile. County commissioners weigh petition sufficiency and whether roads are public utility before ruling on the proposed improvement.
