Cyclones Clinch Outdoor Track Title in Kansas Showdown
Ottawa High School capped one of the era’s best seasons by defending its 3 A title at Cosmia Stadium, beating Wellington and others as David Drumright set a state javelin record and Ottawa’s Steve Hanes and Steve Grogan swept the pole vault. Moore of Wellington joined in with multiple golds, while Darrell Mendell and Randy Brownrigg led a crowded field across events in 80 degree heat.
