Balboni Ends Slump With Two-Run Shot As Royals Top Indians

Kansas City slugger Steve Balboni hit a two-run homer in the second inning to back Charlie Leibrandt’s first win of the month and lift the Royals to a 5-1 victory over Cleveland. Orta had three hits, and Cleveland’s fielding miscues helped spark KC’s three unearned runs in the eighth. Balboni extended his homer drought to seven games, matching his season high before belting the key blow. Balboni’s blast came after a 43-minute rain delay, as Don Schulze took the loss for the Indians.
