Damon’s grand slam fuels Royals rout of Rays in home win
Johnny Damon powered Kansas City to a 10-2 victory over Tampa Bay, belting a grand slam and later making a deep center catch. Kingsley center fielder Damon said the knuckleball challenge mattered less than family cheers. The Royals added Conine’s homer and a Hatter RBI double, while Damon tracked Fred McGriff’s fly ball to end the sixth with two on.

Man lands possible world-record catfish at Elk City Reservoir
Ken Paulie of Caney reeled in a 121 pound flathead at Elk City Reservoir while crappie fishing. The 61 inch fish, with a 42 3/4 inch girth, is described as the largest freshwater fish seen by KEK City district biologist Sean Lynott and would break state and possibly world records, surpassing 90 pound Kansas record and IA NFH and IGFA marks. Paulie noted sudden luck during bad weather and remained in shock at the record catch.
