School board weighs rural parent concerns and after school options
Neuenswander announced a $1.28 million increase in building coverage. The Ottawa school board formed a committee to study rural parent demands for policies addressing the gasoline shortage, including bus service for after school activities and noon transport for kindergartners. They rejected a full day kindergarten proposal but will review a special education achievement center at Ottawa High School amid opposition from a parent and an absence by the director. The board also accepted resignations and new contracts for several staff positions and set June 11 to decide on the center after further discussion.
