Open Letter From Vietnam War Reporter Describes Strangeness
HAL BOYLE writes from Da Nang detailing a war scene seen through the eyes of a journalist. He notes gum scarcity for locals, preferred cigarettes by children, pretty Vietnamese girls, and humorous battles with faulty plumbing and rampant insects. He depicts entomology dreams, mosquito nets, and a lighthearted yet weary stance as a field of battle unfolds. He signs as Harold, asking for a bug bomb to counterattack.
