Fishing yields vary across Kansas lakes and rivers

The Kansas Forestry, Fish and Game Commission reports spotty river and stream fishing statewide last week, with many small lakes and reservoirs producing good crappie, bluegill, and bullheads while various lakes show fair to good conditions for bass, channels, walleye, drum, and white bass. Reading across sections Northeast, Southeast, Central and West, numerous named lakes such as Pomona, Lake Shawnee, Toronto, Kansas spots, and state lakes show mixed results with crappie, bluegill, bass, channels, and bullheads guiding success at multiple locations. Overall, fishing is uneven but several waters remain productive for multiple species.

Lucky Debonair Cleared To Run In Preakness Derby Winner Still In Field

Baltimore AP reports Kentucky Derby winner Lucky Debonair recovered from a swollen right hind ankle after treatment by a Kentucky vet. Trainer Frank Catrone said the minor injury should not keep the colt from the 90th Preakness at Pimlico, post time 4:46 p.m. EST. Odds favored Lucky Debonair at 7-5 with nine starters, as Dapper Dan and Tom Rolfe also loom as strong contenders in the $150,000-added race.
